Nutri-score A

This snack scores a Nutri-Score of A thanks to minimal fat, low calories, and no refined ingredients. These air fryer lemon crisps are a crunchy, healthier alternative to store-bought chips, ideal for clean snacking.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 large tortilla wraps (or flatbreads), cut into triangle chips
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder (optional, skip for kids)
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 tbsp lemon juice
  • pinch of salt

Method

  1. Using scissors, cut your wraps into triangle shapes that resemble tortilla chips.
  2. Place the triangles into a large bowl and add smoked paprika, red chilli powder (if using), olive oil, lemon juice, and salt.
  3. Toss everything together well to coat each piece evenly.
  4. Transfer to an air fryer basket in a single layer. You may need to do this in batches.
  5. Air fry at 180C for 6–8 minutes until golden and crisp, shaking or flipping halfway through to ensure even cooking.

Oven Method (Alternative)

  1. Preheat oven to 180C/160C Fan/Gas 4.
  2. Spread seasoned triangles on a baking tray and bake for 10 minutes or until crisp and golden.

Nutri-score Health Check

These chilli lemon crisps boast a Nutri-Score of A—a result of using whole ingredients, low oil content and air frying rather than deep frying. Here’s the breakdown:

Positive Factors

  • Lemon juice adds brightness with zero calories.
  • Olive oil offers heart-healthy fats in moderation.
  • Whole grain or multigrain wraps can boost fibre if used instead of white wraps.

Negative Factors

  • Portion control is key—these are healthier than crisps, but easy to overeat!
