The Hairy Bikers

Hairy Bikers

AKA Si KIng and Dave Myers.

With their irresistible enthusiasm, Si King and Dave Myers, have become national treasures. Big hearted, down-to-earth cooks with a love of good food, they have been cooking together for more than twenty years.

Born and bred in Barrow-in-Furness, Dave Myers’ versatile skills have taken him to some unusual places. He worked as a furnaceman in a steelworks as a student, to finance his studies in Fine Arts at Goldsmiths, where he then joined the BBC as a make-up artist specialising in prosthetics. Hailing from North East England, Si is a big, blonde-bearded biker with a charm that’s vital when it comes to getting into people’s hearts and homes. He worked for many years as a First Assistant Director and Locations Manager for film and television, including the Harry Potter films.

Their television back catalogue includes over 20 series’ including Mums Know Best, Bakeation, Meals on Wheels and most recently, Asian Adventures. In 2012, the boys shed more than six stone between them on Hairy Dieters: How to love food and lose weight. The tie-in paperback book knocked 50 Shades of Grey off the top of the bestsellers charts and sold 1.5 million copies. They have since published a second Hairy Dieters book, created a range of low-fat sauces (available in Asda and Ocado), and launched an online-subscription based weight-loss club, The Hairy Bikers’ Diet Club.

Sadly, Dave died in 2024 at the age of 66 after a two-year fight with cancer.
