Equipment

  • Glass jar or bottle
  • Measuring jug
  • Sealable storage bottles

Ingredients

  • Frozen cranberries: 200g/7oz
  • Caster sugar: 200g/7oz
  • Orange peel: peel of 1 orange, thinly sliced
  • Gin: 500–700ml/¾–1¼ pint

Method

  1. Add the frozen cranberries to your glass jar or bottle.
  2. Add the sugar, orange peel, and gin to the jar.
  3. Shake gently until all the sugar dissolves.
  4. Shake the jar gently every day for a week.
  5. After a week, you can decant the gin back into clean bottles or leave it longer for a more intense flavor.

Serving Suggestions

  • Mix with ice, tonic water, and a twist of lemon for a festive gin and tonic.
  • Add a dash to a glass of prosecco for a sparkling treat.

Recipe Tips

  • To make as presents, fill a 500ml/18fl oz glass bottle about one-third full with cranberries, add 10 teaspoons of sugar and 10 thin strips of orange, then top up with gin.
