Ideal snack food, these unusual fruit crisps are great for packed lunches and picnics – a great way to get kids to eat fruit too!
- 500g/1lb 2oz
- a selection of thinly sliced pears,
pineapples, orange, lemon, apple or banana
Preheat the oven to 70C/150F/Gas 4. Place a sheet of greaseproof paper on a baking sheet.
Pour 500ml/17fl oz of water and the sugar into a pan, bring to the boil.
Place the fruit slices in the syrup and boil for 3-4 minutes. Drain in a colander.
Arrange the drained fruits in a single layer on the baking sheet and bake for approximately six hours to dry out.

Depending on the fruit, they may take less time to dry out. We advise that you keep checking them after three hours.
