Ingredients

  • Semi-skimmed milk: 285ml (half a pint)
  • Plain flour: 115g (4oz)
  • Medium eggs: 3
  • Salt: a pinch
  • Sunflower oil: for cooking

Method

Prepare the Batter

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the plain flour and a pinch of salt.
  • Add the eggs and whisk together until smooth.
  • Gradually mix in the semi-skimmed milk until fully combined.
  • Set the batter aside to rest for at least 30 minutes.

Preheat the Oven and Tray

  • Preheat your oven to 230°C (450°F/Gas 8).
  • Add about 1cm (half an inch) of sunflower oil into each section of a Yorkshire pudding tray.
  • Place the tray in the oven to heat up for about 5 minutes until the oil is hot.

Bake the Yorkshire Puddings

  • Carefully remove the hot tray from the oven.
  • Quickly pour the batter into each section of the tray, filling them about halfway.
  • Bake for approximately 30 minutes until they are crisp and well-risen. Avoid opening the oven door during baking to ensure they rise properly.
